Our trip began in Reykjavik.
Thus it is seen from the Perlan. The Radhusid (City council) seems to float on Tjrnin lake,
and from the top of Hallgrimskirkja (the church of Hallgrims) you can get a magnificent
View of Reykjavik and the environs.

Pretty houses, of the oldests of Reykjavik, recovered in Laekjargata and Bankastraeti.

For the first time, we saw the 'white' nights. This picture of the Hofi was obtained with 100 ASA film,
without flash and helding the camera in the hand, at about 2 o'clock a.m. This old house,
built in 1909 for the consul of France in Iceland, hold in 1986 the meeting between Reagan and Gorbachov, former USA and CCCP presidents,
beginning the end of the so called cold war.

The President of Iceland's work place is a beautiful and modest house, in the hearth of Reykjavik
(Mount Esja, in the background). In the bus stop, very near the building, we waited the arriving of the bus
that will take us to the trip. The weather, as it is guessed, fresh and rainy.

We left Reykjavik heading towards the North by Ring Road 1,
and crossed the fiord of the whales (Hvalfjrdur) by an underwater tunnel, the only toll road in Iceland, thus shortening about 47 km.
From the other side of the fiord, the last spurs of Mount Esja emerge from between the fog.

|
In their arrival to Borgarnes, the Ring Road 1 closes the small fiord of Borgarfjrdur.

Many Icelandic traditional houses were done of crowd, like these of XVIII and XIX centuries,
in the farm of Glaumbaer, where there is a Folk museum.
